I know, bad joke. But what the heck is shark porn???

Chandler on the TV series Friends gets caught by his wife Monica wacking off in a hotel room. When she walks in on him he is watching PPV porn. He quickly changes the channel to some TV show that has sharks, and she goes into the bathroom and calls Rachelle and tell her that Chandler watches "Shark" porn.

I personally hate all the unnecessarily rudeness, violence and sex shown on "Family" sitcoms, etc. Just properly rate shows and parents need to be as vigilent as possible. Their kids will still go to little Johnny's house and see all types of stuff. I'll watch a film from the 30s and 40s over a whole lot of "family" crap today. I still enjoy the more out there independent films/controversial stuff for adults. Kids don't need to see that. I personally really hate all the newer MASSIVE BLOCKBUSTER flicks that are 99% special effects. JMO.But in America we should show whatever just rate it right!

eh...Fox is just gonna end up giving CBS and BB publicity...it'll be a tough sell to get whatever it is that Fox wants out of this deal...

Fox is just pissed that BB is kicking the shit out of their shows. If Rupert Murdoch will change his citizenship just to own more TV stations, calling for the FCC to axe a show for a word you can't even hear unless you're trying to hear it (which I couldn't, btw :animated_scratchchin: ) is just another day @ the office.

I taught middle school for nearly 30 years - 25 of which were @ an inner-city school. The only time I was ever physically assaulted was when I was teaching @ a toney school where all the trust fund babies and the upper middle class wannabees went. I did get a few bumps and bruises breaking up hallway fights - the worst one was a girl fight - I got slugged in the trachea and still have probs. today.

My friend taught elem. school and while on bus duty one day, a kid yelled "Kiss my Ass" out the window to another kid. He got pulled from the bus to have his parents come pick him up. When the dad got there, he yanked the kid by the back of his neck and hollered, "Where in the f... did you learn to talk like that??? :smilielol:

LenRay - I'm with you on the TV and movies. I enjoy The Sopranos as much as the next guy, but there comes a time when I get just saturated with it and need some Hallmark Channel or something. I love IFC and Sundance and don't even go there when the kids are around!

Hi Slowpoke!! :animated_wave:

I often wonder about parents like this...........is TV the ONLY input your kids get, is TV responsible for raising your kids? Do you really think they are imitating TV only? Get a grip and take a look at your OWN actions..........you're their real role model.

I think what's aired on TV, movies, magazines, music videos/lyrics, video games, completely DO influence children. There's no disputing that. But really....what parent let's their kids watch BB anyhow? Or BBAD? A lot of the shows on TV, even some cartoons (South Park, The Family Guy) have adult content and really weren't made for kids to enjoy. I don't think tv however should be blamed for that. It does go back to the parents and their lack of parenting/control over their children. Parents can always tape a show, especially now with PVR or whatever that's called, and watch it later without their children present.

If the parent/adult is the one with the problem, then they have the freedom to change the channel and watched something else. I'm not a fan of porn, no not even shark porn *snickers* and there's LOADS of it on tv here...especially my super channels. Sometimes it's hard to find a normal movie to rent because it's all XXX. I've never complained or written anyone. I have all the power I need with the channel changer in my hands. All I have to do is flip to something else. It's not hard.

Just don't give them your time or money. You'll probably find that they won't care since they have so many other supporters...but you can't control the world, only yourself. If you don't like it, don't participate in it.

FOX is jealous of BB's success. End of story. Who watches FOX anyway? If it weren't for Hell's Kitchen (LOVE YA, GORDON!!) - of course, they don't swear on ANY Fox shows, right? - I wouldn't bother putting the station in my line-up.

True dat, HRH! I find it funny that Fox is the network that brought raunch to network tv and it worked. They used sex and shock tv to grab some ratings from the big three (ABC, NBC, CBS) and it worked. Prior to the likes of Melrose Place and BH 90210, there was never any overtly sexual scenes or profanity. When raunch proved to be a ratings grabber, everyone jumped into the sewer along with them - so much so that a so-called "Family Hour" was carved out of the evening line-up to appease the growing number of parents upset that they couldn't watch tv with their kids anymore because of the indelicate content.

Obviously, Family Hour has gone bye-byes as well and the lower standards brought to the airwaves by Fox now rule supreme. How ironic is it then that the same network that thrives on pushing the decency envelope in primetime panders their news programming to the most ultraconservative, narrowminded Christians in the country???? It is these same slavishly devoted viewers of Fox news programming that are calling for BB's head on a platter. Apparently they don't watch Fox in primetime or if they do, Hannity or O'Reilly haven't told them what to think about it yet. :P

It sounds like maybe Libra dropped the F bomb, but I had to listen to it 5 or 6 times to determine that. If the FCC was listening that hard, they need to get a life.

As for people blaming TV for their children swearing... shame on you. I have taught my kids that just because other people talk like that doesn't mean they should... it shows a lack of respect to whom ever they are talking to. And if I catch them swearing like that, they get their mouth washed out with soap... is it worth it?

As my mom always said "If you can't say something nice... don't say anything at all" Just like Dan when walks away or clams up when the conversations get discusting and doesn't get involved. Congrats to his mom for raising him right!
