Big Brother 9 debut is third in its timeslot, but stays consistent with summer viewers

The debut of Big Brother 9 was watched by by 7.3 million viewers, making it third in its timeslot.

Of course, it was up against American Idol 7, which was watched by 29.9 million viewers, and The Biggest Loser 5, which barely beat the CBS reality show with 7.5 million viewers. Overall, Big Brother

Episode Recap: February 13, 2008 (Eviction 1)

We're only two episodes in, and already there is loads of drama! So let's get right to it.

Rather than make nice in the early going, Jacob decided to "stir the pot" by telling Jen that he overheard someone he refuses to name calling her partner Parker a snake. When Jen spilled the beans to Parker, he took the news to the entire house to get to the bottom of the murmurings, which yielded little besides making Jacob look like a liar. Apart from being woke in the middle of the night, Jacob's partner (and real-life ex) Sharon was completely blind sided by her partner's terrible timing

Episode Recap: February 17, 2008

Yes! The right pairs are on the block. The only sad part is that horrible Jen and her dud of a boyfriend are dragging Parker and Allison down with them.

I thought this was an easy choice for the HOH couple - Alex and Amanda. Jen and Parker pretty much sealed their fate by deciding to come out with Jen and Ryan

ABC takes overall title, but 'Knight Rider' performs well

Justin Bruening of 'Knight Rider'

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008

ABC grabbed the biggest audience on Sunday night, but NBC's updating of "Knight Rider" helped the Peacock to a demographic victory.

For the night, ABC averaged a 6.6 rating/11 share to snag the top spot. CBS finished second in households at 5.9/9, but NBC, 5.4/9, had more total viewers (a shade over 10 million, to CBS' 9.22 million). FOX, 4.3/7, came in fourth, while The CW was barely a blip at 0.6/1.

NBC scored a 4.0 rating among adults 18-49 to take the top spot in the advertisers favorite demographic. ABC wasn't far behind at 3.7. FOX, 3.2, took third, followed by CBS, 2.1, and The CW, which drew a puny 0.3.

CBS led at 7 p.m. with "60 Minutes," 8.1/12. "America's Funniest Home Videos," 5.0/8, put ABC in second, just ahead of FOX's coverage of the Daytona 500 and a "King of The Hill" rerun, which averaged 4.9/8. The finale of "American Gladiators" on NBC managed only a 3.2/5 in finishing fourth. The CW aired "CW Now" and an "Everybody Hates Chris" rerun.

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 7.3/11, moved ABC into the lead at 8 p.m. "American Gladiators" improved to 4.3/7 to move NBC into second. CBS' "Big Brother 9," 4.1/6, tied for third in households with "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill" on FOX, with FOX drawing more viewers. A second "Chris" and "Aliens in America" brought up the rear for The CW.

"EM: Home Edition" jumped up to 8.4/13 at 9 p.m., keeping ABC on top. NBC's "Knight Rider" movie/back-door pilot scored a 6.9/10 to take second, beating "Cold Case," 6.1/9, on CBS. "Family Guy," 4.3/6, and "American Dad," 3.3/5, were fourth for FOX. The CW finished its night with reruns of "Girlfriends" and "The Game."

At 10 p.m., "Knight Rider" delivered a 7.3/12 (and a healthy 5.1 adults 18-49 rating) for NBC. ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" posted a 5.7/9, while the debut of a cleaned-up "Dexter" on CBS earned a 5.2/9.

Ratings information is taken from fast national data, which includes live and same-day DVR viewing. All numbers are preliminary and subject to change.

Two Big Brother Contestants Rushed To The Hospital

Writing by Joe Reality on Saturday, 23 February, 2008 at 10:16 pm

bb9-allison-cast-photo-resized.jpg

On Friday night, there were two medical emergencies that resulted in two players being rushed to the hospital on Big Brother 9. Even though the medical problems occurred at around the same time, they were completely unrelated.

Amanda told another houseguest that she was hypoglycemic and needed sugar. Before Amanda was able to get anything to eat, she passed out and fell on the floor. The live feeds that have been posted on YouTube captured Amanda lying facing down on the floor, and several other houseguests rushing to her aid. When Amanda was turned over, she could be heard gasping for air.

When the feeds came back up, houseguests were discussing not only Amanda being rushed out of the house for medical treatment but Allison as well. Allison had a severe allergic reaction to something, possibly to eating a peanut. She reportedly broke out in hives and her tongue was swollen.

Both houseguests have now returned to the house and appear to be ok. Big Brother 9 airs on CBS on Tuesdays from 9 PM to 10 PM ET/PT, on Wednesdays from 8 PM to 9 PM live ET/delayed PT, and on Sundays from 8 PM to 9 PM ET/PT.

We now know it was not a peanut reaction but more probably something in the slop she taste tested. She will undergo allergy tests next Friday.

Not sure it this has been reported previously, haven't seen it anywhere else. Thought the apology and subsequent firing were noteworthy.

BB9: Alex/Amanda Evicted, New HOH Named

Writing by Ryan Haidet on Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 at 10:00 pm

bb9-alex-cast-photo-resized.jpg

It was eviction night on Big Brother with allies Alex and Matt both facing elimination with their partners. Last episode, the veto was not used on either team. Matt was campaigning for his team asking Adam to not vote to evict them. But then Allison realized that Matt/Natalie are really tough competition. So she went into the Heads of Household bedroom where a lot of people were hanging out telling them exactly what she thought. Adam told everybody else he was keeping Matt, but then James, the creator of Operation Condor, said he was willing to put that plan on hold for Operation BroDown
