  • 10/29 - Things will get more complicated [between Meredith and Derek] before they get any easier. Sources confirm to me that Lauren Stamile is most definitely a new love interest for Derek, and she'll be sticking around for a while. I'm told she's pretty much the anti-Meredith (all the way around-looks and personality) and will make Derek somewhat conflicted. Source: Kristin on E!Online
  • 10/24 - Two teens stare at a doctor. He likes the attention and decides to go see them. His ego takes a beating when one of the ladies say he looks exactly like the other's father. Then, the two women start dreaming about another dreamy doctor who just arrived at the cafeteria. A teen gets injured by a piece of flying glass during a class at school and needs brain surgery. Another teen, who is the captain of a pom pon team, drops by the hospital with a broken coccyx and a fracture at the top of her femur. The teen will freak out because it'll take weeks before she is fully healed and, already, she is being replaced as captain and the replacement wants to change the routine. Source: SpoilerFix.com

  • 10/06 - Lauren Stamile has been cast in a "major recurring role" on the hit ABC drama, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She'll make her first appearance later this season. [...] The HR teases that Stamile's character will share screen time with Patrick Dempsey's Dr. Derek Shepherd but doesn't disclose in what capacity, be it professional, personal or both. There's also no word on when she'll make her first appearance. Source: Zap2it
  • 09/26 - We're told producers are looking for a big-name star for a recurring role on the show to begin around November. She'll be in her early 30s, sweet, strong and the sort of girl who would catch the eye of a certain regular character. Source: Kristin on E!Online

Just Like Old Times

Episode Recap: "Forever Young" (November 15, 2007)

Tonight, Bailey took charge and let the residents know there was a new boss in town, but she soon lost her drive when an old crush, Marcus (D.B. Woodside), appeared in the ER. So, while I was excited to see the old Bailey laying down the law early on, I was equally disappointed to see her turn to mush for a guy who obviously used her all throughout high school. And so we had our theme for the night---Seattle Grace is just like high school!

While George and Izzie did their best to avoid each other tonight, rumors regarding their rocky relationship kept cropping up everywhere. I have to admit, watching Izzie confront George by saying, "I heard we broke-up," certainly took me back to my school days. Sure, the hallway dramas back then were painful to watch and even more painful to be a part of, but a part of me found myself longing for those days again. Thanks for making me all sentimental, Shonda!

Of course, at every school there's usually some sort of clique hierarchy and with the schoolbus crash, there was plenty of evidence of that at the hospital. For that reason, my heart went out to Marissa (Madeline Zima), the young girl who obviously didn't fall in line with the "cool kids" and who ended up losing her one best friend, Danny (Stephen Sowan). My question is this: Did Derek really have to tell her in the waiting area that Danny would never wake from his coma? Surely, he could have taken her to a more private place to give her that kind of news, especially when it was so obvious that there plenty of prying eyes around them! On the other hand, it was nice that Izzie tried to comfort Marissa by assuring her that she would get through this difficult time and that no one would know better than her, because she was once the "girl in cheap clothes..."

Meanwhile, Meredith and Lexie had a rough night of their own. When Mr. Grey showed up at the hospital, he was definitely drunk and full of heartfelt apologies and compliments for Meredith. I even found myself thinking this was a turning point for the two of them, a chance for them to reconnect and heal old wounds. Alas, that was not the case, as Lexie later shattered my hopes by telling Meredith this behavior was typical of her father and that it was basically meaningless.

Once again, infusing a little humor and lightheartedness into the evening was Mark! Perhaps the most classic moment came when Mark thought two young girls were checking him out in the cafeteria. He suggested that females have been ogling over him since he was a kid and that it still continues. So, how funny was it that when he called his would-be admirers over, the truth was they were only staring and smiling at him because they reminded them of the one girl's dad?

There were plenty of other feel good moments tonight, though. Watching the Chief take on a protective, fatherly role for Meredith was heart-warming and the fact that Dr. Hahn finally paged Cristina for her assistance was a small, but also gigantic step for the two of them on both a personal and professional level. And while George insinuated to Bailey that Marcus deserved "a long speech," it was a very revealing moment when she chose to unleash her anger on Derek, with his "hair products," instead. Who would have guessed that Derek was once a scrawny band geek with acne? Oh, wait, that does sound familiar, now that I think about it...Can't Buy Me Love anyone?

I'm also really glad that things didn't progress between Derek and Sydney, but it looks like Rose (Lauren Stamile) is going to give Meredith some serious competition...

What did all of you think about tonight's episode? Was Bailey really out of character tonight? Is Rose just a bit too much like Meredith? Let me know!
