AR time slot

Recommended Posts

West coast has the show on at 10pm and it's way to late for kids and working adults.

This is great family show but not at this hour. It's a real bummer for the kids. We have friends that have had amazing race birthday parties for their kids. Real fans and these kids are bummed they can't watch the show this late.

I feel The Unit stealing the amazing races audience is by far the cheapest and dirtiest thing CBS has done yet and then to claim it's a number one show like it achieved that audience all on it's own.

As for the Unit

Anyone who has ever been in the military knows base housing doesnt look like knotts landing and you don't go home every night. This makes for a great family show.

I'm looking to get as many people as I can to give the Amazing Race back it's time slot of 9pm pst. I'm hoping individuals can take a minute and let CBS know others care and to keep the show at a reasonable family time. The link below is to CBS's feed back form.

It's for the kids!!

I couldn't agree more. I don't like the late time slot so I record the show and watch it the next day -- but that's no fun! I actually know people who are not watching because of the 10 o'clock airing. I submitted my opinion to CBS so if a lot of us do so, maybe they'll reconsider. I think this is a good show for kids to watch with their parents (minus the idle sex talk by the boys). It's too bad. I think it should be moved to 8:00.

Ok I just have to ask: What age are these kids you want to 'DO IT FOR THE KIDS" ? ....as for the UNIT, its pretty good, I loved Knotts I miss me some good Abby antics, but its about an Elite UNIT that doesnt exist, its 'make-believe' ( shhhhhhhhh), but 10pm , there are tivos, vcr's, and dvr's ....YAY Phil!

As for kids I'm talking sixth grade and up.

It's no where near as bad as some of the other things on TV. It's good family time and kids can talk about it.

I guess I'm just a creature of habit, 9pm is my TAR time. I don't watch AI so that's not a factor. People with kids can make their own decisions about what's appropriate for their kids to watch. I'm sure kids have seen a lot worse than they see on TAR. If the viewing is approached as a family then I say go for it. How many things do families bond over these days? When my kids were kids, they were in bed by 9 but that was my decision, maybe not everyone agrees with that and that's their prerogative. When TAR first came on the air, we watched as a family, the kids ranging in age from 13-16. We made some sort of weird tradition out of it, at about 8:45 I would fire up the griddle and we all had pancakes and watched TAR. The kids are grown and gone now and I don't fire up the griddle for one but those first couple seasons were a great bonding time for us. Tivo, VCR, DVR - those are not substitutes for family time.

My initial post was responding to calling it a "family show" and "its for the kids". I don't have a problem with my teenagers watching it because they watch it with me and we talk about any weird or abusive behavior. BUT, I don't think the intention of the show is or ever was for the benefit of children -- I consider it more adult entertainment (not the nasty kind, so don't jump on that). If people choose, as I do, to let their kids watch it, then that's their choice, and I have no argument with that. As for TIVO, VCR or DVR, it still CAN be a family experience -- you record the show and watch it the next evening as a family. It's an option if you or your kids can't stay up that late. My kids never go to bed before 10pm (central time) anyway, and TAR airs at 9:00, so it works for us. And like I said, I like the change, because otherwise I would be recording AI and watching it later.

As for the new show "stealing" TAR's time slot and viewship -- that's a buncha bull. The networks can and frequently do shuffle their shows time slots around. And I don't think people are watching The Unit because it is on in TAR's old time slot. I don't watch it because it is not my taste. One of my sons and my hubby watch it because it IS their taste. As for whether The Unit is a family show or not, I don't think it is depicted as being one. There are many many shows on any network that have things that some families may not want their children to watch. That is why parents should pay attention to what their kids are watching, and maybe even watch TV with their kids from time to time (GASP!).

Hey Mo,

Amazing race airs at 10pm on the west coast.

Please check your PM

I do agree about some of the subject matter in AR concerning spouse/partner abuse and this year's sex talk not being appropriate for younger kids. Maybe I'm stuck in the Ozzie and Harriet TV world (giving away my age here - but I was very, very young then) and wishing for it's return (I do realize it will never happen). On a basic level I think it would be nice for families to sit around the tv and watch a program that not only entertains, but educates and provides glimpses into other cultures. For some reason, PBS doesn't usually bring that kind of interest to an entire family. All in all, it's still not a bad show for teens, but my teens had a 10 pm bedtime curfew and there may be others out there with the same restriction. (that's not to say that my teenagers followed the lights out ritual either)

Here again, different strokes for different folks and if the 10 o'clock slot pleases some and not others, that's the way it goes. In the meantime, I'll keep reusing my old VCR tape while I go nightie night and watching AR on Wednesday. It is kind of nice to fast forward through those commercials. :D

My point to this thread was getting the time slot back to what it has been for years and that was 9pm, I believe it aired at 8pm also.

The thread was never meant to be about how appropriate the show was for children. I wasn't looking for parenting advice.

Even this season began at 9pm till CBS decided to bump it up an hour for The Unit. It was nice to sit at an earlier time enjoy a bowl of popcorn and watch the show with the family. So many of us have busy schedules and this was a great family time, even the kids were excited about it. The Unit is a violent show and should be aired at a later time when adults can enjoy it. i.e shooting of the mule..

For years the show was on at 8 and 9pm. I just can't believe I'm the only person that wants the show back at its original time slot. A few people at work would like to see it switched back, seems many other pre-teen, adolescents, would like to see it switched back. I work and would like to go to bed at an earlier hour. I don't want to have to DVR shows and what for a time to watch it. When people at work are going to talk about it and I'll hear the ending anyway.

If you would like to see the Amazing Race aired at it's original time or even earlier let CBS know.

I was just wondering who told you this board was hostile? Not a very friendly thing for someone to say, are they still members and if so maybe you should reconsider if they have Morty's best interest at heart? JMO

I asked some friends about a board I could post an AR request on and see if I'm the only one. Even they agreed it was on to late. They mostly post when BB is on, I didn't ask them for their logins. I told two friends at work I was going to post on Morty's board about the Amazing Race and they said the board can get hostile. The thread got off topic and you can see how some got. I've seen worse on other subjects different boards. But if you read on you can see how some of the posters just get personal and attack. I see what he meant now. I even had one person in this thread send me a PM not to be discouraged.

In the Portland area CBS's HD broadcast was not carried on Comcast cable. Till enough people complained to Comcast about it, that was started on a message board. Now Comcast carries the HD signal and is paying CBS which is what the whole matter was about.

I was just trying to see what other people felt. Seems others would like to see the switch.

If its on to late let CBS know. Because they care. If you don't care, then don't

Sorry Kes, welcome to the forums.

Unfortunately, there are a few of our regulars that let their passion get in the way of their good manners. We've got a lot of nice people here, I hope you'll stick around and be one of them.

I put in my original post about military wives cheating.

This isn't true, I guess seeing that on the show The Unit kind of rubbed salt in an old wound.

I want to apologize to any military wives out there that read this. It was wrong of me to post that.

I also want to say thanks for standing by your man in times like this. Keep up the great work and keep writing those letters. Those letters are such a lifeline you will never know. Make sure and be there when they come home. There is nothing like the ship pulling in and seeing someone you love on the pier waiting for you, or at an airfield or hanger or wherever. Just be there.

I am sorry and I apologize.

Looks like you got your wish Kes.....

They're moving to an earlier time....

I'm happy most of the people I work with are also happy. It's kind of funny I started sending out an email to all of my friends with a link to CBS. I recieved the same email from someone else a week ago. So the public has spoken.

I like TAR at 10pm Eastern. My kids are long in bed, my house is quiet, AI is long over. Not that 9 matters much, but I prefer 10. Glad I'm not central time though if it used to be on at 8 :S oh that's NOT a good time.

Looks like you got your wish Kes.....

They're moving to an earlier time....

Is this a permanent time???? I heard it's gonna be on Wednesday at 8. Are they NUTS????

If TAR keeps moving around to avoid AI does that mean they're going to be moving again now that the AI results show'll be tomorrow at 8:30pm? It's a one hours show though, so maybe if Ryan stretches out the results viewers'll be able to get away with just watching the last half hour.

Eh, we'll see what happens . . .

I hate the new time slot.......it's on the same time as LOST and AI. What was wrong with Tuesday nights, there's nothing else on that night...no competition. Sucks.
