Dancing With The Stars ~ U.S. Season 21 Episode 12

We open tonight’s show with the announcer saying, “Live from Hollywood, this is the Semi-Finals of Dancing With The Stars. Professional dancers dance in the ballroom with the lights down low. The lights are brought up. Tom & Erin introduce the remaining couples that are dancing for the mirror ball trophy.

 

Tom says, there you go, another great routine choreographed by Mandy Moore. He introduces us to tonight’s show. He says, Val is there without Tamar. He says, that she went back to the hospital after last week’s show, & was given a very serious diagnosis. He says, they will update us on her later.

 

We see video footage from Bindi’s friends and family talking about her growing up. Tom says, the first round of the Semi-Finals competition will begin for Bindi & Derek after the break. We see some video footage from last week from Tamar coming to the show & going back to the hospital after the show was over, before going to commercial.

 

Tom welcomes us back to the ballroom. Bindi & Derek dance a Salsa to You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile by Sia. The audience cheers for them while they are dancing on the circle stage. They erupt for them when they are finished & confetti falls down on them.

 

Julianne says, it’s raining happiness & that was a perfect song for who she is in the competition. She says, she wanted a little more down & dirty for the Salsa. The audience boos. She clarifies that it was light & airy, but she likes down & dirty. Bruno gives Bindi a lot of compliments. He tells her that her hips need a little more side to side Salsa action. Bindi says, O.K., we will bring that. Carrie Ann says, it was a great way to start the Semi-Finals. She tells her to be careful, because they will be picky. She tells her they have a couple more numbers tonight to work on it. They go to the Sky Box.

 

Tom says, the phone lines are open for everyone to vote for who they want in the finals. He says, next week’s show is the 2 Hour Season Finale. Bindi’s mom tells Erin that Bindi is growing up & Derek has a lot to do with it. Bindi’s brother says, she’s absolutely amazing & she crushed it. Judge’s scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Julianne – 9, Bruno – 9, for a total of 27. Bindi hugs her brother & parents. Derek says, Bindi is absolutely amazing & he loves her more each & every day.

 

Erin says, that the couples do need the viewer votes, because even the highest scoring couples can be eliminated. Tom says, we will learn more later about Tamar’s serious condition that sent her back to the hospital. We see some video footage of the couples doing practices this week, before going to commercial.

 

Tom welcomes us back to tonight’s Semi-Finals. We see video footage from Alek’s family & friends. Alek & Lindsay dance a Waltz to America The Beautiful by Ray Charles. The audience cheers for them when they are finished.

 

Tom introduces the band to the audience & viewers. He says, it’s safe to say that all of their thoughts & prayers have been to the people in Paris this week. Tom says, it has to be even harder for him & his friends. Alek says, his heart goes out to everyone in France.

 

Bruno says, Alek’s attention to detail in his footwork is amazing, & he can’t believe how far he has come in this competition. He says, he did amazing. Carrie Ann says, he was breathtaking, & it was his best performance ever. Julianne says, they are in the tightest part of the competition now, & she’s glad he did a ballroom dance tonight. She says, it was true dancing & it was great. They go to the Red Room.

 

Alek’s mom hugs him when he & Lindsay go to Erin. Erin asks his mom how this has been for her? She says, he’s done great & she’s so proud of him. She says, he’s awesome! Judge’s scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Julianne – 10, Bruno – 10, for a total of 30. Erin says, she can’t believe the reaction on Lindsay’s face, & there is more dancing to come. Tom says, we will get an update on Tamar’s condition in a little bit, & there is a team dance later. We go to commercial.

 

Tom welcomes us back to the ballroom. We see video footage from Carlos’ family & friends. Carlos & Witney do a Contemporary dance to Drag Me Down by One Direction. The audience cheers for them while they dance, & they erupt for them when they are finished.

 

Tom says, a lot of twirling & spinning tonight. He says, that was all amazing, but the one thing that struck him was that his brother was tardy to school in his Freshman year of High School 145 times because he was doing his hair. Carlos says, no comment.

 

Carrie Ann says, she wasn’t really into it. The audience boos. She says, he kind of over did it, & she would have liked to see him more straight dancing. Julianne says, she understands Carrie Ann’s struggle. She says, he danced that very well, but as the weeks go by they seem to be losing their connection to each other. She says, if they are there next week they need to use each other’s faces. Bruno says, right here, right now, that was straight dancing & it was bloody good. He says, it was like watching Tarzan doing Cirque du soleil with a little bit of down under. He says, he’s never seen that before, & he would like to see more of it. They go to the Sky Box.

 

Erin asks them how they will find their connection? Carlos says, he’s trying the best he can. Judge’s scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Julianne – 9, Bruno – 10, for a total of 28. Erin says, they need the viewer votes. Tom says, no one has scored less than a 9 tonight. He says, there is more dancing to come, & they will be live.

 

Tom welcomes us back to tonight’s Dancing With The Stars. We see video footage from Nick’s family & friends. Alek & Sharna do a Tango to Scars by Alesso. The audience cheers along with them while they dance, & they go crazy for them when they are finished.

 

Julianne says, she loves the pep talk in the middle of the dance. She says, she’s so sad, that could have been a great dance, but there were some footwork issues in the beginning. She says, it’s the beginning of the night & there are still 2 more rounds. Bruno says, the chemistry with Sharna sizzles really. He says, mistakes happen, get over it, & come back better than ever. Carrie Ann says, she’s not worried about it really. She tells them to come back & do what they are going to do for the rest of the night. They go to the Sky Box.

 

Tom says, there is a Trio round coming up in a little while. Alek gives his brother a hug in the Sky Box. Erin says, that video package was intense. Nick says, it really got to him & got in his head a little. He says, he had to overcome adversity, & he did it. Judge’s scores:  Carrie Ann – 8, Julianne – 8, Bruno – 8, for a total of 24. Erin says, the evening is not over. She says, they will shake it off & come back. Tom says, they will update us on Tamar’s condition. We go to commercial.

 

We come back to the ballroom with Val & Jenna. The audience cheers for them & the judges hold number 10 paddles fanning themselves when they are finished. Tom says, they promised us an update on Tamar’s condition. Tom says, a lot of people thought last week’s show with what was going on with Tamar was staged. Tom says, it was live, & we see video footage from last week behind the scenes. It shows when Tamar was taken to the hospital during Dress Rehearsal. Val says, if he knew it was as serious as it was, no one would have had her come back to dance. He says, it was an intense moment. Val says, he thought they would have been eliminated that day, but things turned out differently.

 

Val says, Tamar went back to the hospital & she was tested. They found blood clots in her lungs. He says, that can be serious because if it goes to your heart you can die. He says, she figured that she was going to have to withdraw from the competition. Tom asks about the blood clots being in both lungs. Val says, it’s calling showering blood clots, & it was caused from them flying so much. He says, the swelling can cause them.

 

Tom wishes Tamar the best in her recovery. He says, the dancers found out Tuesday about Tamar, & that they would be doing Trio dancers this week, for 3 additional points added to their scores for the winner. We go to commercial.

 

Tom brings us back to the ballroom telling us that the groups have been split up for the next portion of the competition. These two couples will both dance Cha Cha’s.  Alek & Lindsay dance first, & then Carlos & Whitney dance. The audience loves both of the couples.

 

Julianne tells Alek that it’s nice to know he’s still waxed. She tells him his technique wasn’t there. She tells Carlos his technique was spot on. Bruno says, it was a chest off. He says, Alek really gets into an eagle. He tells Carlos he had a wiggly bum. Carrie Ann says, they were equal to her, & polar opposites in the way they delivered. They go to the Red Room. Tom says, there will be a trio round of these rounds.

 

Erin asks Alek what Bruno said about their chests? Alek says, that it was a chest off. Judge’s scores: Carrie Ann – Alek & Lindsay, Julianne – Carlos & Witney, Bruno – Carlos & Witney. Erin says, Carlos & Witney get the 3 extra points.

 

Tom says, the next two couples will have dueling Samba’s. Bindi & Derek dance first, & then Nick & Sharna dance. The audience loves both of these couples also.

 

Bruno says, both of them can’t believe how much content both couples put into these dances. He says, they were both great Samba’s, but he can’t believe Bindi’s hip action. Carrie Ann says, she’s glad Nick wasn’t in his head, & he came back strong. She says, Bindi came back like a tiger. Julianne says, Bindi made it a point to say watch this. She tells Nick he came back & he brought it. Judge’s scores: Carrie Ann – Bindi & Derek, Julianne – Bindi & Derek, Bruno – Bindi & Derek. Tom says, Bindi & Derek get the 3 extra points. Tom says, the trio dances are coming up next, live.

 

We come back to the ballroom with Professional dancers dancing. Tom shows us the floating leaderboard. He says, Carlos & Witney have a 31 at the top of the leaderboard & Nick & Sharna have 24 at the bottom of the leaderboard, for now.

 

We see highlights for Bindi, Derek & Mark practicing their trio dance for this week. They dance a Jazz to Lean On by Major Lazer Featuring MO & DJ Snake. The audience cheers for them while they dance, & they explode for them when they are finished. Tom calls them over to him. Bindi hugs Tom.

 

Julianne says, Bindi is like a little warrior princess. She says, everything behind that she didn’t miss a beat, & that was amazing. Bruno says, it was a total & compelling work of a genius. He says, it was presented great. Carrie Ann makes a bunch of noises with her faces. She says, that was not a trio or Dancing With The Stars. She says, that was a professional dance company dancing a Contemporary dance. They go to the Sky Box. Tom says, they will have the biggest ever Finale next week.

 

Erin says that dance was amazing. She asks Bindi what she was thinking when she was preparing for the dance? Bindi says, she wanted to try everything. Derek says, she’s a light ninja. Judge’s scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Julianne – 10, Bruno – 10, for a total of 60 now for all 3 rounds. Tom says, there are 3 trios of dances left to finish off tonight’s competition, live.

 

We see highlights for Alek, Lindsay & Emma practicing their trio dance for this week. They dance an Argentine Tango to Ex’s & Oh’s by Elle King. The audience claps along to the music while they are dancing. The audience erupts for them when they finish dancing. Tom says, nicely done.

 

Bruno says, it takes 3 to Tango, & he handled it soo well. He says, it was great as a whole performance, but at times had a little bit to many steps. Carrie Ann says, it was great & they just lot a little bit of steam at the end. Julianne says, it was great that they brought Emma back. She says, she thought he did good, but he could have done more at the end. She tells the girls the choreography was beautiful. They go to the Red Room. Tom says, they will be live on Monday & Tuesday next week.

 

Erin says, she loves Julianne stirring things up a little bit. She says, she won’t put him on the spot, but she wants answers after the show. Judge’s scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Julianne – 9, Bruno – 9, for a total of 57 for the night. Erin says, he will need some votes. Alek says, he loves votes & tells the viewers to get them in. We see video footage from the Professional dancers talking about next week’s Christmas spectacular Finale before going to commercial.

 

Tom welcomes us back to the Semi-Finals trio round. We see highlights for Carlos, Witney & Karina practicing their trio dance for this week. They dance a Charleston to Ex’s & Oh’s by Elle King. The audience claps along with the music while they are dancing. They erupt for them when they are finished. Tom says, that was great.

 

Carrie Ann says, it was effervescent. Julianne says, she thought they were the professionals. Bruno says, Carlos stole the show from the girls, which is a compliment, because he made them shine. They go to the Sky Box for their scores. Carlos tells Erin his partners were amazing. Erin asks how he’s holding up nerves wise? Carlos says, she gave him a kiss just before & that’s what he needed. He tells his wife he loves her. Judge’s scores: Carrie Ann – 9, Julianne – 10, Bruno – 10, for a total of 60 for the night. Erin tells the viewers to get their votes in.

 

Tom stops the music to ask Carrie Ann what the difference was between a 9 & a 10 for her. She tells him it was that they weren’t in sync at the end of the dance. Tom has the music start again, & tells us there are more trio dances coming up when they come back, live.

 

Tom welcomes us back to the final trio dance of the Semi-Finals. We see highlights for Nick, Sharna & Peta practicing their trio dance for this week. They dance a Salsa to No Doubt About It by Empire Cast Featuring Jussie Smollett & Pitbull. The audience claps along with them while they dance, & they erupt for them when they are finished.

 

Julianne says, she’s glad to see that Nick was back. She says, all the Nick they’ve seen since day 1 was in that dance. She says, he just showed do or die. Bruno says, it was a Salsa pop with a lot of references, & that was the way to come back. He says, it encompassed everything that they like about him. Carrie Ann says, shew, she was very worried about him, even though she said she wasn’t. She says, he went from the ground up & that was the best he’s ever done. She says, the Backstreet Boy is back. Nick syas, the show must go on. Judge’s scores: Carrie Ann – 10, Julianne – 10, Bruno – 10, for a total of 54 for the night.

 

Tom says, that’s the way to close out the show. Tom & Erin get ready to give us tonight’s results. Tom says, the first couple definitely dancing in the finals is Alek & Lindsay. Erin says, also dancing in the finals are Carlos & Witney. Tom says, which means Bindi & Derek and Nick & Sharna are in jeopardy. Tom says, when someone has to withdraw they eliminate no one, so they are both dancing in the Finals.

 

Erin & Tom give out the phone numbers for the viewers to vote for all of the remaining Finalists. At the top of the leaderboard Carlos & Witney are tied with Bindi & Derek with 60. Nick & Sharna are at the bottom with 54. Erin tells all the viewers to vote. Tom says the same & says, they will be back in the ballroom on Monday, live. He says, an all new Castle is next.
