  1. The first main trailer for the series, which begins on 13th August. http://www.behindbigbrother.com/2012/06/heres-the-new-promo-ad/
  2. Stepping away from twists for a minute but if as I fully expect it's the same old rules this year with nothing more than a casting twist I would at least like to see them revamp the challenges and for HoH at least try and get a season of new challenges, rather than recycling the same old ones over and over again (which always end with a tie breaker). It would be nice to see more non-question based HoH comps too - they had a few in the early seasons which were more skill based but those don't seem to occur often anymore.
  3. I don't think a viewer vote is right for BBUSA - although maybe a twist to through the Veto wide open would be if the Veto is used to save a nominee the viewers choose the replacement. That means rather than the Veto use being all pre-planned if it is used the outcome is completely unpredictable to the houseguests - and the viewers too. And Big Brother could certainly do with being less predictable. It also means using the Veto has a consequence - something it doesn't really have at the moment (other than for the new nominee).
  4. As has actually probably the case everytime BBUSA begins a new season (certainly since All Stars), the show is crying out for a twist that isn't casting related, doesn't rely on the BB Alumni and actually shakes things up a bit. Sadly we all know Alison Grodner is unlikely to take the plunge and really shake things up, but one thing I think they could do is develop the Golden Key concept from last year which saw the saved nominee in early evictions get a guaranteed place in the top 10. So any ideas on how the Golden Key could be reworked into a new twist to give at least one houseguest a pass to the jury stage. I'll begin with a couple: The first is simply some kind of competition running over the first few shows in which one person will win the Golden Key and their place in the Top 10 - but then get a cash offer to give it up, perhaps with America then voting for who should get it in that case. From that point each week the Golden Key holder has to face another houseguest in a challenge to retain the Golden Key and the ongoing immunity that goes with it, with the challenger perhaps chosen by the HoH or the viewers, or perhaps being one of the nominees (replacing the Veto). The second goes back to an old BBUK twist. Here every housemate nominates each week, with the HM with the most votes facing a public vote to determine the evictee. Back in BB6 one of the best launch week twists ever saw one housemate, chosen at random by answering a call for a HM to come to the diary room, saw Makosi have to get herself the most nominations for eviction in order to avoid facing the public vote. Adapting for the US and linking with the Golden Key before the first HoH comp one houseguest would be chosen at random (and without the other HGs knowing) to undertake a secret challenge in order to win the Golden Key - and a pass for the first three evictions. All they need to do is ensure they're evicted in the first week - so first must make sure they don't win HoH, secondly get themselves nominated, then ensure nobody would save them with the Veto and they'd get the votes required to get kicked out - all without the other houseguests suspecting a thing. If they succeed on eviction night they'll get to stay and be immune for three weeks, with the HoH then nominating a replacement. If they fail they find themselves evicted!
  5. Traditionally Big Brother UK begins the last Friday in May (26th this year) - but there are rumours it will be bought forward to either the 5th or 12th of May.
  6. OK - a bit of an outside perspective here, but I think it's quite a fair observation... The problems with Big Brother 1: Firstly, the Premiere show. Nothing happened - it just featured Julie talking as a fleet of cars made their way to the house, arriving in the final few minutes. It got off to a bad start! Secondly, the show schedule. Unlike Europe, it's virtually unheard of on American primetime TV to have a programme scheduled across the week - it just works better for an American audience three times a week. Thirdly - the structure of the series. The US followed the original European format of having 10 people in the house for up to 100 days, with evictions one week and nominations the next. This meant it was slow and dragged out. The UK version started at the same time as the US, and the UK producers realised the show needed speeding up, so cut the length of the format to 64 days with evictions once a week. Now, don't get me wrong I think what Big Brother USA has become is a very good show treated on it's own merits, but I believe the show could have been revamped without the huge change in format. Arnold and co were right to switch the show to three hour-long slots a week. They were right to increase the number of contestants to twelve, and they were right to have evictions every week. However, even with these changes the original format could have continued. Nominations would be on the Saturday show, with each HG nominating two people for eviction, and the top two facing the viewers vote. This process could still have been used even if HGs were permitted to discuss nominations. The Tuesday show would then feature the Weekly Task, which would be for food. The tasks in season one may have been poor - but all other countries have shown that as time goes on, the weekly tasks become tougher and more imaginative - and can have a much greater impact on the household than a 30 minute challenge on a Friday morning. The evictions would then be on Thursdays as usual, with the viewers determining who goes, until just three remain and viewers vote for a winner!
  7. Thanks for the info - guess they decided to squeeze in an episode on the Saturday after. So the final eviction before the final will be on Friday - will the 4>3 eviction be on Sat or Tue then? I'm in the UK so only asking out of interest (and to know when the shows are). We were supposed to be getting the sixth US series on our screens here but for some reason (perhaps as it's crap!) E4 have decided to drop it!
  8. Can anyone confirm the schedule for the remaining shows? The America's Choice info states there will be a show on Saturday, yet previously it had been reported they'd be no show on Sat 10 Sept, Thu 15 Sept or Sat 17 Sept. Anyone confirm the details of the final shows? Is it another eviction on Saturday, then again on Tuesday leaving the final two in the house all week - alone!
  9. How do you think houseguests would have been perceived differently inside and outside the house if they'd entered as individuals, rather than with partners? Would Beau be more popular without his connections to Ivette? The same goes for Maggie with her connections to Eric? Would Howie have played differently without Rachel - and would James have gone alot sooner without Sarah?
  10. From reading Mortys recap it seems to be a "Special eviction" rather than live eviction, so I guess it may be possible. What I didn't get is the extremes they went to last time, cutting off from the Veto until after the show has aired in the West. We usually know who wins the Veto and is saved - and from what I read the feeds normally return straight after the live show, so even if they'd just cut from the eviction until the time it was broadcast, we'd have had a few hours less of FOTH. More annoyingly though was the next day the feeds were then cut again for a number of hours while the Veto comp took place - why couldn't they just do this during the blackout?
  11. Credit where credit is due though and it's good to see there is no bigger critic of Big Brother than Housecalls. I was quite surprised when I first watched it that the major issues were raised - I expected them to be completly in the pocket of the producers! A question though - last week did they discuss the issue of the live feeds being suspended for a whole day?
  12. It seems there are a few problems which have arisen with the new boards. Some of my posts which had regular text in the old forum seem to have massive text in this one, while also the numbering is a bit out as there are more posts per page with this new look.
  13. I think it's a bad idea for any former houseguest to become the host as from that point on you would naturally compare each evictee to the host - and you would be effectively suggesting the way the host plays the game is the best way to play it!
  14. Big Brother Holland began this week - the site is at http://www.bigbrother.tv It's doing something very controversial that on all the forums I've been on no one really agrees with - one houseguest is due to give birth in six weeks!

  16. Well, we all know the feeds were only cut as the eviction was actually on Friday. Can I ask - did anyone enjoy the show more or less as the result wasn't spoiled? Lets face it, most weeks we know exactly who will be evicted anyway - even without the live feeds! One further annoyance - the feeds were cut for a further 4 hrs due to the Veto competition. Why couldn't they just do this sometime on Saturday when the feeds were blacked out? And another annoyance - each year we do get an extended Veto comp which usually sees HGs compete individually in the garden while the others are locked somewhere in the house. Couldn't they just keep the feeds on the people in the house?
  17. Always difficult to find clips of BBUK, so when I do I try and share them with you. Here is a page from a Dutch fansite: http://www.bb5.nl/forum/messages.php?search=34040 It has a clip of the final with the winner being announced and a clip from the BBUK "Pool Orgy" WARNING: The "Pool Orgy" clip contains FULL FRONTAL nudity, STRONG LANGUAGE and acts of a SEXUAL NATURE... (so you won't want to miss it then!!!!)
  18. This is the first time I've been able to get on in the last few days. One suggestion. Aussie BB fansite BehindBigBrother.com had problems with their forums but these seemed to be solved by making the forums so that you have to log-in to read them! I don't know how significantly this would cut views, but it does stop those who just lurk around without contributing!
  19. THE FINAL The finale night stage is set up outside the Big Brother house and the crowd awaits. The first show kicks off with a profile of the four finalists and the highlights from yesterday before we are reunited with the ex-housemates - to probably the worst reception any group of HMs have received with all the evictees except for Derek being booed. Anyway, on to the results... In fourth place is... KINGA! Not surprising really considering she's only been in the house two weeks. She was irritating but did lift the mood in the house over the final few days - and was quite impressive in dealing with a guilt-ridden Eugene after he accepted BB's offer of taking half of the jackpot for himself. She also made her mark with an incident with a wine bottle - and the crowd honoured it with several inflatable bottles floating amongst them. Someone felt it neccessary for the interview to give Kinga a microphone to be heard - and I'm sure the HMs in our house (and probably yours) would heard her too. On to third place and it's... MAKOSI! Her numerous secret missions had made her favourite in the early stages -but her antics after the infamous "pool orgy" with Anthony did her no favours. She claimed she didn't have sex, then claimed she was pregnant and stated she didn't come here for a baby and what would she call it - Jacuzzi! That is when she lost it, but she has been a fantastic housemate and will certainly be the most memorable HM of Big Brother 6. She certainly didn't deserve the bad reception she got with huge boos and chants of "OFF! OFF! OFF!" and "LIAR! LIAR! LIAR!" during her interview making the most anticipated eviction interview of the series very uncomfortable for Makosi, our host Davina and the millions at home who really wanted to know what she had to say. Moving on to the announcement of the winner. It had been neck and neck all week with Eugene and Anthony with the favourite changing numerous times. Eugene was close to becoming the first ever late-comer to win the series, and on Wednesday had won
  20. HUGE TWIST!!!! Oh my God! A surprise to end all surprises - Big Brother's final sting in the tail! Firstly, Davina surprises the HMs as they sit down to dinner and tells Craig he has finished fifth, giving him just 30 seconds to leave. He manages to change into his eviction outfit before leaving! Craig got just 4.1% of the vote and during his interview his main priority seemed to be slagging off Makosi, stating she didn't have sex with Anthony (so why did you jump out of the pool Craig?). Davina does bring up the main issues with him, though I'd have liked to seen her be alot tougher on him. Craig shows the sort of vile character he is by just laughing off anything that shows him in a bad light. After Craig's eviction, Big Brother called one housemate to the diary room. Makosi and Kinga feared eviction, while Anthony was getting changed into his eviction outfit preparing for a possible second eviction. So Eugene goes to the diary room and the other HMs are told of the twist - it's all down to the prize money. The other housemates are told that Big Brother will ask Eugene a question. If Eugene answers "YES", the prize fund will drop to
  21. I'm waiting for a download so I'll correct this in the meantime: Initially Anthony's sexuality was questioned by some HMs and viewers - but it became quite clear to viewers and HMs that Anthony was 100% straight. The storyline hasn't been about Anthony and Craig being a couple - but Craig's secret crush on Anthony which has taken an increasingly worryingly turn with Craig becoming overly protective - and quite frankly psychopathic - towards him. This happened ONCE as part of a two-day task. Kemal got to ask Makosi questions in the diary room. Earlier in the series Saskia had a similar reward, asking Maxwell questions in the diary room. Two, Eugene and Orlaith got to stay. Orlaith later quit and the third late arrival Kinga returned to replace her. This did happen, but has cleared up a few weeks ago. Most viewers suspect it was a lie (she earlier said Anthony only pleasured her with two fingers) - and it lost her alot of support, not so much as she lied to her HMs about it, but she lied to viewers about it. Well, Derek has now gone - and I've got more chance of winning than Craig. He's not seen as a gay man - he's seen as a psychopath!
  22. And to think here in the UK we complain we don't get the action they see in other European versions of the show One of our best twists ever. We kept the original format but the show did undergo a big revamp last year which saw more twists and much tougher challenges introduced - and also gave Big Brother (the voice in the house / diary room) more of a personality. The orignal format certainly does allow for far more interesting twists - something I don't think the HoH concept allows!
  23. The HMs have passed the task having fooled each other they were all hypnotised - although of course after receiving their luxury food reward, they all confessed to knowing no one was really hypnotised. The task began with Anthony's trigger word "hot stuff". He began dancing around the room and chatting up Kinga before going straight in for the kill. He went on to ask Craig if he'd been working out, pinned him against the wall and kissed him on the cheek. Makosi was next on Anthony's hit list - but Eugene was saved by "Melvin" bringing Anthony around - who did a good job of acting confused. Craig exagerated slightly and said Anthony had snogged him, to which Anthony reacted furiously that Big Brother would make him kiss dudes and headed off to complain. Next Craig believed he was naked in the room full of housemates before Eugene did his best chicken impression - and Eugene being Eugene, he took it quite seriously and began pecking at the window - causing Craig and Makosi quite real concern in the belief he was hypnotised. Makosi then acted upon the word Superhero, pretending her superpower was the ability to hear people hundreds of miles away. She was in tears as she talked to her sister who was at the bookies, saying Craig is favourite to win, with Kinga second. Makosi replied - "second - you've only been here a few days!". Kinga was last acting as an alien who had just landed on this planet - but seemed to know perfect English - especially a few select four letter words! Finally, "Melvin the Magnificent" put all the HMs to sleep and bought them back to their natural state!
  24. Well, it had to happen eventually - Big Brother has set all the housemates secret missions to fool each other! Earlier today the housemates were told they would each be hypnotised in the diary room for today's challenge and then be under the instruction of "Melvin the Magnificent". However, as each HM went to the diary room they were told that actually they were the only HM who wouldn't be hypnotised - but instead by on a Secret Mission for Big Brother. Each HM must convince the others they are hypnotised, responding to key words from Melvin the Magnificent. "Hot Stuff" would send Anthony kissing the other HMs, "Birthday Suit" saw Craig having to believe he's naked on a cold January day in a room of VIPs while "Chicken" saw Eugene behaving like a chicken! "Spaced" saw Kinga turn into an alien while "Superhero" saw Makosi believing she has magic powers - such as moving objects without touching them. Makosi had said she didn't want to be hypnotised - but was more than willing to accept her secret mission! All HMs believe they are the only ones not really hypnotised - and they must keep this secret to pass the task. Surely they suspect, but if they all fool each other they win tonight's luxury reward.
