  1. http://www.bbspy.co.uk/bb14/news/0605/big-brother-canada-renewed-for-second-season BB Canada will return in the 2013/14 second, with Arisa Cox confirmed as returning and casting details to be announced shortly.
  2. Worth noting it's pointed out in the FAQs the feeds will not be available outside the USA - not even in Canada it seems. https://cbsi.secure.force.com/CBSi/articles/FAQ/Are-there-any-geographic-restrictions-for-accessing-Big-Brother-live-Feeds-content?retURL=%2FCBSi%2Fapex%2Fknowledgehome%3Freferer%3Dbigbrother.com&popup=false&categories=CBS_Entertainment%3ABig_Brother_Live_Feed&template=template_bigbrother&referer=bigbrother.com&data=&cfs=SFS_3
  3. I think that probably over complicates thing but one idea for a twist would be that for each eviction (up until final 10) that only a jury of seven can vote for each eviction - decided partly by competition, while the HoH gets to choose one voter an the Veto winner automatically gets a vote. It could be an idea to just have 6 HGs vote each week with the 7th vote coming from the public.
  4. I agree - and in the context of the broadcast shows would make no sense at all. And I don't believe for one minute that even if these rules were strictly obeyed the live feeds would be cut any less - they'd find other excuse to go to FOTH. As some of you may or may not know Brazil has an adapted version of the US format which basically see the HoH nominate one person, the other HMs vote for the second nominee and the public evict and ultimately vote for the winner. I'm not suggesting the US go down that route, but they have had a few variations to the Veto. Firstly it occurs before the nominations and allows the winner to award immunity to another housemate. However there is a second challenge - effectively a Veto Veto - where the winner can veto that decision and take the immunity from them. They've also had years where as well as awarding immunity the winner of the "Power of Immunity" also has to award a punishment to a housemate of their choice, and most recently have introduced the "Power of No", which allows the winner to prevent a certain number of HMs competing in the next HoH comp.
  5. I suspect the most they'd do is stick a couple of beds in the room by the bathroom (Arcade room last year IIRC). One thing which always baffles me is how they usually decorate the three bedrooms as normal bedrooms yet within a couple of days convert the third bedroom into the Have Not Room with a completely different design. What's the point of that then?
  6. If they did a returning cast again it would be interesting to just get a cast from one season back and see how things play out differently a decade or so on. It won't happen again as it's highly unlikely they'd find an entire cast willing to come back, though knowing our luck it would be Season 6 and the Friendshit (as obviously Grodner would choose a Janelle season!)
  7. Completely agree on the HoH - not letting them play the next week forces them to make deals and think beyond their week in charge. Also agree it would be really interesting to bring in a brand new houseguest a couple of weeks into the game and let the HGs play them for their vote. I wouldn't force them to give up any prize money, but I would do it early on - certainly no later than after the third eviction. It could be done earlier (after the first eviction), with them competing either in another location to win a place in the house or put to the public vote - that justifies them being eligible for the full prize as they would be part of the show from the beginning, just not in the house. I do think though leaving it till about week 3 or 4 is best though as send them in to early and the house will still be united enough to vote them straight out - but leave it an extra couple of weeks and they should be divided enough to care more about evicting each other than evicting the newbie. The Veto is long overdue a change IMO. I don't agree with the Veto winner deciding the replacement nominee as I think that takes too much power from the HoH - and already the Veto is probably seen as important as HoH, especially in the latter stages). Maybe add a twist that any player can only use the Veto once in a season - or can only be Vetoed once in a series. If you did the latter that could encourage your rivals to Veto you early in the season knowing if you go up again the next week you can't save yourself.
  8. The honeymoon period is good for viewers though to get to know the HGs - it's horrible having returning HGs take all the early attention. I really think they messed up with the Dynamic Duos season - if they hadn't done that that season or the next could have been a full on All Stars and CBS could have got it out of their system for a few more years, but now they can't seem to see beyond some kind of All Star twist (as on Survivor), so I suspect we'll have another season or two which feature returning HGs in some form. I doubt we'll see another all newbie edition before a second full All Stars edition.
  9. With the eviction shows moving to Wednesday they could use the schedule to their advantage and replace the Have Not comps with a food comp that runs over 2-3 days (as in international versions)
  10. The trouble is though even with the random draw the backdoor strategy has kind of over taken the initital nominations as the main way to try and get people out. I've been saying this for years but all the Veto basically needs is a greater consequence of using it - so in order to save themselves there is a consequence on the rest of the house.
  11. I'm surprised really either Chevrolet or The Brick haven't thrown in an extra prize for Gary just to get some last minute publicity for themselves out of the show - as after all they were barely mentioned at all for the last three months. Indeed the one night when the car was relevent they took it out of the studio!
  12. One thing I think is long overdue is a major change to the gameplay - from season 2 to 6 they tweaked the rules every year (mainly around the Veto), but since then apart from the Veto players being randomly drawn (S6 or 7 I think) nothing has changed. The Veto definately needs shaking up as it's too dominant at the moment - there needs to be some sort of consequence of using it or attempting to backdoor someone, so I think I'd either like to see the rules changed so only those who play in the Veto can be nominated (returning to HGs picking players as they need to weigh up people competing for them vs allies being nominated) or rather than let backdooring be as predictable as it always is throw in the wildcard and let the viewers decide the replacement nominee everytime a Veto is used, removing control from the house. That would make eviction nights far less predictable. I agree it's time to scrap the Have Nots - I think a weekly food comp where the HGs effectively compete individually to avoid Slop could work, with the twist being at the end the HoH has the option to gamble (knowing who is on slop) to win food for the entire house.
  13. Completely agree. Maybe Peter was threatened by her shoutiness. I agree - absolutely the right decision and handled well by Arisa. It was made very clear prior to the voting they were voting for the winner and presumably that voting block remained in the studio amongst the audience throughout the show, while Topaz would also have had the key she didn't put in her box, assuming they weren't taken off the jurors prior to the vote reveal. I'm so glad they upheld the rules - they've been hot on them throughout and it was only right they were hot on them now. The only other option would be to void her vote which would have created a tie-break, but with no obvious tie-breaker they could have done live other that wasn't a realistic possibility. We wouldn't want to see the winner decided on a HoH style tie break question.
  14. On the whole a decent first outing but with some sloppy mistakes which really let it down, but nothing that can't be easily fixed. One of the biggest mistakes happened both on the first eviction and on the finale - they crossed to the house and in week one revealed the new nominee simply by showing who was sitting on the block before they had aired the Veto ceremony, while last night it was inevitable that if they talked to the final three they would comment on the unbroadcast parts of the HoH comp - and sure enough they did. Also not doing the live evictions live bugs me - and I can't work out why they block the feeds when they record them but then every week they came back on long enough to spoiler the eviction result before going off again. The live feed blackouts were too frequent and unnecessary - shouldn't really be for more than an hour or two at a time, while the lengthier blackouts could have been completely avoided by scheduling events around the broadcast shows, not around when they want to do them. I'm sure Arisa isn't famous enough to only be available one night a week. Tasks and comps on the whole were good, though when they do secret tasks they shouldn't have the HGs immediately reveal they've done a secret task. Did annoy me though how in later weeks they didn't complete the HoH comp in the live shows - unless it's an endurance comp they should always be completed in the eviction show. Other than that it was well cast (though I think they'd have been better off with 13 HGs, dropping the week 1 eviction and a double eviction), the house was great, the host was a refreshing change and the season played out nicely enough even if it was Jemmett dominated towards the end. Twists were hit and miss but the only one that really annoyed me was Canada's Veto early on - it was a pointless twist thrown in to pointlessly save one of the most pointless HGs in BB history! So the final mark - B+. Completely agree - the two shows this week were just pointless, leading up to events we knew would happen. They should have done the noms, veto and eviction live on Sunday (I'm sure it was recorded on Sunday or Monday anyway), then the first and second part of the HoH comp on Wednesday with the rest shown on Thursday.
  15. Emmett didn't really have any control over Andrew going though as he was never going to have the guts to nominate Jillian.
  16. It's a tougher call than it first appears - as you say keeping Talla makes more sense for the HoH comp, but she would probably take Jillian unless Emmett can convince her that Jillian's 4 HoH wins means he's less of a threat, even though he must be close to that in Veto wins and possibly has more combined Veto/HoH wins than Jillian. I don't think Gary would be too bitter about being cut though - he was pretty gracious about it the first time round and would understand completely IMO.
  17. Felt like we lost an episode to Dan's guest spot and it was unnecessary with what else is going on in the house - Andrew's breakdown of trust with Jemmett is far more interesting viewing.
  18. What on earth are you talking about? As for Gary - if he accepted a challenge as part of the PoV and failed to complete it he should definately be disqualified, and BB Canada producers have shown so far they aren't afraid to disqualify people. Really it should have been done before or during the Veto Ceremony, but still possible it could be revoked come eviction night, though whether it would mean anyone else picks up the Veto remains to be seen. Would be funny if Talla had won it, saves Andrew and Jillian goes up - though I still think Gary would go unless Andrew really had the balls to vote her out.
  19. Really wish Canada would cut the apron strings. There was no need to send Dan in, especially so soon after sending a jury member back in - that creates enough drama in itself.
  20. Take a look at this from BB Denmark - much more effective than coming into the house then holding a phone in front of your brother:
  21. I think people are way off the mark with the latest HoH thing. I certainly interpreted Arisa's comment about the coloured sides facing you as insturcting them the final puzzle must have the coloured sides facing them, not that they couldn't turn them over during the competition. It looks like they were plain white on the back anyway - if producers were stupid enough to have any kind of indication of how to do the puzzle on the back that is there look out.
  22. I do suspect it'll mean now they'll be restricted to US viewers only (and perhaps Canada) - previously I think they were available world wide.
  23. Yes, from the footage broadcast certainly wasn't the innocent prank that it first appeared. However also from the broadcast footage Tom was stood in front of the cubicle when it was opened so nothing could have been caught on camera anyway. Anyhow, with Tom gone I think Alec is in danger of turning from the good guy to the bad guy - maybe power really does go to peoples heads in BB but since he won the Veto then HoH I've found him far less likeable.
  24. You can't go on a show like Big Brother and get all precious about that sort of thing - and in making an issue of it he's just making an incident that otherwise wouldn't get a mention be one of the key stories they'll probably run with. As for Tom - in this case it was nothing more than a prank that backfired. I don't think anyone could have foreseen that such an incident would leave Alec in tears.
  25. It is beyond a joke really - it should never take them more than an hour or so really to film any competition or ceremony, and then at most an extra hour to get the immediate fall out, and even then they can just be creative about who they show in order to save things for broadcast. It wouldn't be so bad if they kept a live feed of an empty room on during such events - I'm sure many live feed fans would find themselves watching it for longer than they planned just in case someone walked into it.
